Abstract

Heydar Aliyev, who came to power in a difficult situation that arose after the collapse of the Soviet Union, began serious and decisive activities in the direction of solving current problems in the country. The elimination of the internal economic crisis, the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the advancement of Azerbaijan on the international arena were one of the main goals of the great leader. As a result of Heydar Aliyev's far-sighted policy, a truce was signed on May 12, 1994. After the ceasefire, which is necessary for the development of Azerbaijan, such an important project as "Contracts of the Century" is signed (September 20, 1994), which promotes the integration of Azerbaijan into the world economy. After creating the basis of economic development, Heydar Aliyev started work on determining the country's new foreign policy course. As a result, in the following years, it was possible to establish bilateral relations with the UNO, EU, CİS, OPEC and other influential organizations and become members of these organizations. the Turkic world, based on the principles of bilateral and multilateral relations. The foreign policy course, established many years ago by the national leader, is successfully expanding and developing today.
