Abstract:	Based on primary sources, archival documents and historical literature, the article examines the Zakatala uprising of 1863 against the forced Christianization of the local population and the colonial agrarian policy of tsarism in the northwestern region of Azerbaijan. Here the question of the participation of the Poles exiled to the district in the unrest is clarified.
